The European aerospace giant Airbus (AIR.PA) is developing a technology that will reduce the need for a number of pilots in the cockpit, a Grazia Vittadini-CTO Airbus statement said.
“The deployment of AI in our systems allows us to begin eliminating the need for crew in terrestrial and routine tasks, while keeping the human element in decision-making for different issues.” says Grazia Vittadini, director of technology at Airbus.
These innovations will direct the corporation to “the day we will see an airplane run by only one pilot, a target we are targeting.” says Vittadini in an interview with Bloomberg.
“AI will be the decisive factor that will make the planes autonomous, but it will take a long time to anticipate a period of about 60 years to reduce the crew of four pilots to two, of course we will need to adapt the passengers to this environment. grandparents did not think of getting on an elevator without an elevator boy, today the elevator is not an exciting journey and does not bother riders. ” finished Vittadini.
