American markets are set top open around the closing levels from yesterday

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a flat open on Friday as many traders are expected to be away from their desk for the Christmas holiday.

On Thursday, U.S. equities fell, as the Dow Jones industrial average failed to reach 20,000, a psychologically important level. Entering Friday, the blue-chips index was about 0.4 percent away from hitting the elusive mark.

Investors will keep an eye on the US new homes sales data at 17:00 GMT+2, when better than expected data might support USD and indexes.

Oil prices remain in bullish territory as black gold is trading at 52,52$ a barrel.
