Expectations are for keeping the base rate at the same level of 0.0%. European Central Bank should strictly with its plan for monetary stimulus and a change in interest rates is not expected. At the last press conference in December Draghi mentioned that is likely to see a change in the amount of incentives than in the base rate of the eurozone. Today not expect a change in interest rates, but investors remain in focus for the press conference at 15:30 which will decide whether there will be a change in the amount of incentives or their duration.
The euro traded today with mixed feelings. When changing the base rate in the positive direction we may see appreciation of the euro against other currencies and a change in the negative direction will observe depreciation of the euro. If there is no change in interest rates, the euro will retain its value at current levels, but in the minutes after the announcement of the news we will see increased volatility.
