Binance Freezes User Wallets: What to Watch For.

The leading cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, is distancing itself from possible accusations of discriminating against Palestinian crypto users in favor of the Israeli government. Earlier today, a report spread online claiming that Binance had confiscated all funds belonging to Palestinian users at the request of the Israeli government.

However, Binance’s CEO, Richard Teng, denied this claim to calm down speculation about possible freezing of users’ assets without proper legal process. Teng stated on the platform X that only a limited number of user accounts linked to illegal activities were blocked.

“As a global crypto exchange, we follow internationally accepted laws against money laundering, just like any other financial institution. We will continue to educate users on how to safely and securely transact on our platform,” Teng emphasized.

The crypto exchange urged users to approach the web3 industry with the necessary knowledge to avoid fraudulent transactions. Additionally, Binance is regulated in 19 countries and complies with established anti-money laundering laws, just like any other financial institution, including in India and the UAE.

Impact on Binance’s Brand

Amid the ongoing correction in the crypto market, led by Bitcoin, Binance’s native coin, BNB, hasn’t been spared. According to the latest market data, the price of BNB has dropped by over 3 percent in the last 24 hours, currently sitting around $534.

After reaching its highest level earlier this year, the altcoin, with a market cap of around $78 billion and a daily trading volume of over $1.1 billion, has entered a downward trend.

However, the release of the former CEO, Changpeng Zhao, from prison in the United States will play a key role in the recovery of BNB.
