Despite the lack of stimuli and the increasing cases of coronavirus, the earning season begins with high estimates

S&P 500 Index companies begin posting third-quarter results in earnest this week amid a backdrop of analysts’ first positive EPS revisions of the year — based on the percent change in consensus estimates in the three months leading into reporting season.

The increased expectations come despite the lack of additional U.S. fiscal stimulus and as coronavirus cases surged month-over-month in September in parts of the country.
