Japanese stocks lead gains in Asia as regional equities are feeding off the positive tones from US stocks overnight and news that US-China trade talks are proceeding to the next level. Gains in Chinese stocks are more measured though with the Hang Seng index up 0.4% and the Shanghai Composite up by 0.5% currently.
However, US equity futures are in a less cheery mood trading sideways down by 0.1% at the moment. That should ultimately set the tone for European equities later as markets will look towards US December CPI data for further clues later today.
