Filings for U.S. Jobless Benefits Drop to a Five-Week Low

Applications for U.S. unemployment benefits declined to a five-week low, highlighting a strong job market, a Labor Department report showed Thursday. Jobless claims fell by 25,000, the biggest drop since April 2015, to 234,000 in the week ended April 1. The median forecast in a Bloomberg survey called for 250,000.
