After a hard day’s work most people don’t find the time for anything but rest and TV. But in his 5-year study of over 200 millionaires Thomas Corley found that one habit common among almost all millionaires was reading. From the millionaires he studied, 86% claimed to spend their free time in reading for pleasure and learning.
The average millionaire reads around 2-3 books a month. The obvious question is how do these successful people find the time to read? The reason the very successful (and very busy), from Barrack Obama to Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, to be able to find time for reading is the “five-hour rule”.
The rule is simple. Wealthy people, regardless of how busy they are, spend at least one hour a day reading or practicing. This is the five-hour rule: read for one-hour, five days a week.
The five-hour rule can be divided into three parts: reading, thinking, experimenting.
Reading is for the accumulation of knowledge. Thinking is for assimilating knowledge. Extepirementing is the practical application of learning. When we combine the three for five hours a week we are investing in ourselves.
