VIX has a room for further normalization

While the longest streak of weekly losses since 2016 pushed the VIX back below its one-year average level of about 13, the gauge remains too high, according to Credit Suisse Group AG.

Stock volatility is the richest among major asset classes, Mandy Xu, an equity-derivatives strategist at the firm, wrote in a note dated May 14. That means the VIX has room “to normalize further.”
