Today is more of a “synthetic” Sunday in terms of data, given the empty economic calendar. The only scheduled event is the final eurozone inflation (CPI) report during the European session, but it’s unlikely to impact the markets unless we see major surprises.
The main focus will be on speeches from Federal Reserve officials. It will be interesting to hear their views on consumer inflation expectations, which rose further according to the University of Michigan survey, despite easing trade tensions. There’s also some concern around the Moody’s downgrade, although in my view, it’s not particularly serious.
Lastly, it’s reported that Trump and Putin will have a phone call today to push for a ceasefire and finalize a peace agreement.
