The price of Bitcoin dropped below $80,000 at the end of the week, at a time when global stock markets are experiencing significant losses. The main catalyst: the new tariffs announced by Donald Trump, which triggered serious sell-offs in risk assets.

The crash in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq led to comparisons with the famous “Black Monday” of 1987. According to analysts and commentators, market capitalization has decreased by over $8 trillion – more than during the worst week of the 2008 financial crisis.

Bitcoin’s Behavior: First Signals of Decoupling from Traditional Markets?
Amid dramatic volatility in stocks, Bitcoin seems to be holding relative stability. Since the beginning of the week, the loss is around 3% – relatively small compared to what is happening with other risk assets.
Bitcoin’s volatility continues to decrease, with VIX rising to the peak of 2020. This creates a rare market anomaly – and usually foreshadows a significant move.

The Bullish Scenario: The Market is Looking for a “Safe Haven”
Max Keiser – a well-known crypto supporter – predicts a price of $220,000 by the end of the month if the stock market crash deepens. His argument:
- Traditional assets (stocks, bonds) are under pressure, and liquidity will seek an alternative;
- Bitcoin is increasingly perceived by investors as “digital gold”;
- In the event of panic, crypto could become a beneficiary of capital flows.
Although such predictions are speculative, they reflect the changing perception of Bitcoin’s role in the global financial ecosystem.
The Decline is Not Excluded – But Could Be a False Breakout
Other analysts remain cautious. The $76,000 level could mark the beginning of a deeper correction with a potential test of $70,000. However, some observers are calling the recent drop a “false breakout” – similar to the movement after the ETF approval or the correction in August 2024.
Traders like Cas Abbe even point out that a recovery above $92,000 on a weekly basis would confirm a renewed long trend.

- On one hand, BTC shows structural resilience – supported by ETF flows, institutional interest, and inflation concerns;
- On the other hand, it remains vulnerable to global macroeconomic shocks and sell-offs in traditional assets.
It is important to note that Bitcoin behaves like a “hybrid asset” – sometimes reacting as a risk asset, and at other times behaving as a safe haven. This is what makes it unique – and difficult to predict with classical models.
