Morgan Stanley is preparing to offer its customers Bitcoin Swap, the only thing the bank remains in Stand By is “proven institutional search.” In case of interest from large institutional investors, the bank is considering first to offer such a trade.
What is Swaps?
Swap-a represents a contract between two parties for exchange of future payments. Future payments are calculated on the basis of formulas defined in the Swap contract itself and are made at certain cash flows. One of the cash flows is fixed and the second is variable, mainly because of the interest rate.
What is futures?
Futures, by their very nature, give the right to purchase an asset without being physically possessed. Bitcoin futures is no different.
Bitcoin Futures + Swap
Bitcoin swaps will be complex financial derivatives based on the price of another complex financial derivative. Like regular futures, swap trading is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which makes Bitcoin Swap a fully legal one.
