MoneyGram continues to receive millions “for market development” from its investor, blockchain payment company Ripple.
According to MoneyGram’s Q3 2020 financial results released Thursday, Ripple has handed over $ 9.3 million for the period.
After $ 0.4 million in transaction and trading expenses, MoneyGram made a net profit of $ 8.9 million.
Ripple, which provides several payment products targeted at financial institutions, invested $ 50 million in the company in November 2019.
In the second quarter of 2020, MoneyGram received $ 15.1 million for the same purpose.
Previously, MoneyGram described market development fees as compensation for providing liquidity to Ripple’s Liquidity On-Demand (ODL) network, its payment product that uses XRP cryptocurrency to send money across borders.
MoneyGram also received $ 16.6 million in the first quarter and a total of $ 11.3 million in the second half of 2019.
In total, Ripple has funded the company in excess of $ 52 million to provide liquidity.
In early 2018, MoneyGram became one of the largest companies to publicly state that they use XRP in their money transfer services.
